NEIGHBORHOOD WILDFIRE AMBASSADORS
If you’ve got a grasp on the threat wildfire can pose to a community and you want to ‘be the change’ in your neighborhood, we’ve got everything you need to get started.
We worked with Fire-Adapted Colorado (FACO) to develop a comprehensive training platform so that our Ambassadors have the know-how and expertise to bring real value to their communities.

Ready to take the next steps?
Ambassadors are typically wildfire-savvy, have a genuine interest in helping their neighbors, are well-respected in their communities and have a little free time. They are community volunteers who are empowered to act as spark plugs within their neighborhoods by attending educational events, organizing community activities, mitigation projects, and raising awareness.
RCWMC: We provide our Ambassadors with the training, resources and support they need to be as effective as possible. And, we love them.
You: Sounds great. How do I get started?
How the program works

Schedule an info-session. Reach out to Halie Cunningham or Josh Hankes to learn more about the Program, benefits and expectations.

Enroll in the next training session. Trainings are conducted virtually and take place once a week for six weeks, typically in the spring and fall each year.

Formulate your launch plan. Don’t worry – you’ll be guided through this process in your training!

Work with us and learn from other local ambassadors as you get started!
How will my community benefit if I become a Neighborhood Wildfire Ambassador?
And, of course, as a Neighborhood Wildfire Ambassador you’ll receive some cool swag, the tools you need to be effective and periodic opportunities to attend invitation-only events. Your community will be (even more) fortunate to have you. Perhaps you’ll even receive your Firewise USA recognition!
The power of community organization.
Ambassadors recognized by elected officials.
AMBASSADOR-REPRESENTED NEIGHBORHOODS
Is your neighborhood represented? If so, your Neighborhood Wildfire Ambassador may just be getting started. Be patient with these volunteers. We had more than a dozen new ambassadors go through training recently. If not, please send any good candidates our way!
